In 2019, the Berlin Zoo’s panda Mengmeng gave birth to two cubs, Mengxiang and Mengyuan. The panda is an endemic animal of China and one of the country’s most special “diplomats”. Based on official information, I have drawn up an infographic on panda diplomacy, including the habits of pandas, their diplomatic history, the number of “panda diplomats” currently living abroad and so on. Using the Berlin Zoo as an example, it shows the conditions in which pandas are fed and housed abroad, the price of diplomacy and the impact on both countries. The pandas in the infographic and the graphics showing the information are hand-drawn by computer.
